Call me what you want

Okay so the other day I took the kids to Mc'Donalds at the local Walmart. I felt like a terrible parent (I had vowed that we would keep that kind of junk to a minimum) I ordered Ollie his mc'chicken happy meal and Moira ordered a cheeseburger happy meal. I must admit as we were sitting there enjoying eachother's company it was really difficult to not get lost in the moment. I mean we were the typical happy commercial for the whole 15 minutes it took us to engulf our junk. I was however taken completely out of the moment when this woman shrieks out "your pop machine is broken!" I had just used it earlier to get the kids thier fuitopia which i had watered down and there was nothing wrong with it. So picture this I am a little annoyed at this woman shouting in this eating establishment (okay this is where it gets ugly but come on!) and I focus on her really big pasty white calves. Slowly I raise my eyes and the graze over these jersey material green shorts and I notice that this woman is huge. (now don't get me wrong, I don't have issues with other people's weight) But she is at least 340 lbs and she is wheezy from all the walking she had done earlier. So here's the clinche. The employee says to her "which one is broken?" "The diet coke" she replies. Okay seriously, on this lady's tray was 2 big mac cartons, fries and an apple pie! you can not tell me that if she doesn't get that extra large diet coke that it is going to throw her calorie load way over the limit. I just don't get it! That shit fursterates me, because I see people simular to her everyday in my work and some of it is so avoidable. It's not the broken diet coke machines that are going to put you on the table in front of me, it's going to be the complete ignorance of their lifestyle. Sorry but I needed to vent, please do not judge me to harshly on what I had to say. Just try to see the little truths inside of it.

Tom's 70th Birthday

This weekend I awoke at 5:30 am to finish the slideshow that I was supposed to have ready for this weekend. Marty and i finished it around 8 and went to Calgary to go set up for his dad's 70th birthday party. It was a pretty good night. Both children were entertained and well behaved. (That can be such a plus sometimes!) It was nice to see Marty's parents so happy with all thier friends. Some of the speeches were very funny as the crowd treated the event like a roast. The next morning we raced hom to have brunch with my family. The brunch wasn't too good but the company was nice. After bruch we headed over to my parents house to check out thier new "robot" lawn mower. Very funny indeed. When I figure out how to run the video I will post it.
Here is my newest picture

Early mother's day/"unmentionable birthday present"

Marty bought me a new camera. My old digital was taking rather odd pictures. They were always dark and grainy and sometimes I would get these weird spots all throughout the photo. It was time for a new one. I have been bugging him and the stores (as it wasn't released until this week) for about two months. It's funny how much stuff you can find on the internet to bug your spouse with. But I love it, and him even though he is going to turn 30 on Friday.

Into The New House At Last

So finally, the reason I haven't been blogging is no longer. Yay. We are not even close to being settled yet, but I have some time to spare and catch up now. Movng day got off to a very rocky start. First the hitches that we were going to use for the horse trailers did not work with the trucks that we had. Then someone ran into my mom's building at work and she had to leave for a bit. We didn't get the keys until 11, on my way over I get a call from the lawyer who is not satisfied with the insurance coverage. I phone the insurance and give them heck cause I had put everything in their hands so that there wouldn't be any problems. So we get into the house and holy lord is it a mess! There is ice cream still in the freezer. Needless to say we couldn't move any of the boxes in until we cleaned. And I mean cleaned...We even had to clean out the fridge as it had spills and what not in them. Then I notice that all the curtains and rods are missing! There were two attached fixtures gone as well.
I took some pictures on wednesday. So they aren't perfect but it should give you an idea of the house.

Moira had her first communion on Sunday. That was beautiful. She did very well. We had Jane, Cathy and Katie down as well as moira's godfather Stu. Mrs. Alleyjan Moira's godmother also drove down for the morning celebration.

About Me

My photo
I started taking pictures of my kids when I started scrapbooking. I really wanted my pages and pictures to look like the sample ones in the scrapbooking magazines. It took a lot of hard work, researching, learning and a few hundred roles of film but I got the results that I wanted. Portraiture quickly became a passionate hobby. Finally, in February 2007 I opened Madchen Studios. The studio has become the perfect outlet to feed my obbesion with perfect photographs.
